David Moyes praised his side after second-half goals from Leon Osman and Victor Anichebe gave Everton a vital away win over SK Brann in the Uefa Cup on Wednesday night.

Osman put the Toffees in front on 59 minutes before Anichebe then doubled the lead on 88 minutes.

The result means Everton are in the driving seat to progress into the last 16 of the competition - against the winners of the Rosenborg-Fiorentina tie - when the teams play the second leg at Goodison Park next Thursday.

As an added bonus, the victory in Norway set a new Everton record, being the Toffees' sixth successive European victory.

And Anichebe, with his fourth in the competition this season, is just one short of setting a club record for a European run.

Delighted

Praising his side, manager Moyes said: "I am delighted with the way we turned this game around.

"In the first half we were not going anywhere, we were not passing the ball quickly enough and we were not showing enough pace around the pitch.

"Brann are a good side. They have just won the Norwegian championship and beaten a top side like Rosenborg to do it, so we know we have produced a very good victory here.

"But we needed to improve after the break. We seemed to be trying to do everything perfectly, it was causing us problems and we were losing possession.

"But we got better as the game went on and Leon Osman and Victor scored fine goals.

"I will not start thinking about the next round until we have completed the job, the second leg being next week.
